Arnold Schoenberg

Arnold Schoenberg (1874 Vienna - 1951 Los Angeles) was one of the most influential and most important composers of the twentieth century. From 1903 he taught in Vienna and Berlin - Anton von Webern, Alban Berg, Hanns Eisler were some of his students.

In 1933 he immigrated to the United States and from 1936 to 1944 he taught at the University of California in Los Angeles.

In 1918 Schoenberg developed the twelve-tone-system which he used in most of his following works.
